Come and join us in August for our annual charity summer school. This year we are back at Water Orton Primary school, Plank Lane B46 1SG.
Thursday 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st August.
Sessions are £5 (or more of course!) - please bring cash with you. All money raised goes to charities that are chosen by you so please leave your ideas with me.
Bring a mat and any yoga equipment with you.
This year we are really excited (and very grateful) to have, as always some fabulous teachers supporting this scheme. Sophie Rogers will be guiding a beautiful sound bath for us, Maria Dineen will be bringing her accessible and creative knowledge with her, and Cath Hussey will be guiding a nurturing Yoga Nidra for us.
No need to book, just come along and join the fun xx
A little more about our summer school…
Starting back in the mid-eighties the late Wilf Wood began a summer school of Yoga in Curdworth to raise money for local charities. In the nineties a wonderful FRYOG teacher, Val Miller, then took over the reigns. Each summer, in the village of Water Orton, Val got together different teachers to share practices and the money raised divided between a local special-educational needs school in Coleshill (then called Blythe School now Woodlands) and other local charities that students had put forward.
As the summer school became more popular Maureen Hill became the organiser and over the past few years I have been entrusted with this wonderful summer scheme, which has been held at Water Orton primary school and Shustoke village hall.
So, for 4-6 weeks every year we have wonderful teachers from around the Midlands come and teach, with all donations from students going to their chosen charities.
We have welcomed all schools and styles and over the years have enjoyed everything from Sivananda to Iyengar, Yin to Vinyasa, sound baths to Ashtanga, Yoga Nidra to Tibetan chanting and Qigong.
Since 2005 alone these gatherings have raised over £10,000 for local charities – we have welcomed hundreds of students of Yoga through our doors and many, many wonderful teachers of Yoga.
