Trauma Informed Yoga - A journey towards finding safety in your body

The effects of trauma, at any point in our life, can be long lasting and show up in many ways. Talking therapy is of great importance on your journey to understanding trauma yet our experiences are also stored in our physical body. How do we start to feel safe in our body again, find freedom and choice and understand our own nervous system a little more?

Trauma informed Yoga (TIY) offers the chance to explore what happens in the body when we are in a state of fight/flight/freeze/flop mode in the nervous system and explores techniques to guide us back to a place of safety within. During these sessions you may learn techniques which can help increase self awareness of the nervous system, give choice and autonomy, explore reliable routes to safety through self-regulation and encourage a positive relationship to self.

The sessions may include gentle Yoga movement, breath work, meditation and relaxation techniques as well as conversation, journaling and sound. Any practices shown are optional and worked through together in a collaborative way.

These 1:1 sessions are held at High Vibe Yoga cabin on Wednesdays between 10am and 3pm (I also offer online sessions via zoom) and are guided in a trauma informed way. These sessions are created to work alongside therapy sessions. We may be able to work together in-person at one of my dedicated hall spaces (depending on availability).

I offer blocks of four sessions. Our initial block of sessions would be a chance to explore ways to ground, stabilise and befriend the nervous system. We will work together to create a safe practice for you.

You will be asked to complete an intake form on enquiring about these sessions which will be sent via email or post. Please do get in touch for more details from our contact page.

If you are a charity or service that would like to learn more about these sessions please do get in touch.

Trauma informed Yoga is not therapy or counselling. You will not be asked to share your past or trauma history. I aim to provide a safe environment for you to be as you are.

*These sessions are trauma informed and I understand that triggers can happen at any time. I encourage you to take any necessary steps to care for yourself outside of these sessions

*Sessions are booked in blocks of four.
