Last classes of 2021 this week all online

We wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the classes this year. There have been changes, challenges, breakthroughs and of course lots of laughter. It has been wonderful to be able to see some of you in person and support our brilliant community halls but also to create a safe online space for those who need it.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Christmas workshop and for all of the donations which I will take to Birmingham Christmas shelter on Xmas eve.

We have 4 classes this week - all online via zoom - so do come along if you feel you need a break over the next few days. We close our Yama & Niyama theme with a light hearted look at non-grasping and an openesss to something more than ones self. Each class will end with a lovely longer relaxation. Our last class is Wednesday 22nd December and we will re-start classes on Saturday 8th January for Super Saturday.

New beginners Qigong class starting in January

We are really excited to be able to offer a new beginners Qigong class from January. This session will be in-person every Monday afternoon from January 10th 3pm - 4.15pm.

Qigong (chee gung) is a Chinese system of wellbeing which includes mindful movement (think tai chi), meridian system work (healthy organs and energy flow), meditation, intention & awareness practices (which can support mental health). We will work with a different element each season to tune into the natural world. This class will also include a beautiful relaxation after the practices. Sessions are trauma sensitive, accessible and inclusive and can be worked from a chair as well as standing. Suitable for all.

Classes and playlists for week Monday 13th - Friday 17th December plus Christmas Workshop

As Christmas draws nearer coma and step away from the busyness and gift yourself some time. Our theme on the Yama’s and Niyama’s continue this week as we look at how we can use our energy wisely and foster relaitionships built out of repect and understanding (bramacharya) and also learning more about our Self through self study (svadhyaya). Mindful movement, breath work, meditation, intention and these idea weaved through in a light hearted way. Join the flow in Castle Bromwich and Shustoke and online too.

Can our interactions with others and the world around us be honest, authentic and peaceful. When we live from that honest place we may start to catch the glimpses of being content with what we have, who we are and the life that we are living. These are beautiful ideas as we move towards Christmas and a new year.

As we move towards December and Christmas we will be taking an open-hearted look at Patanjali’s system of Yama and Niyama - how we view our Self and the world around us. There is an invitation for these practical and ethically-minded guidelines to be discussed, shared and experienced in everyday life so that we can notice our outward and inward projections. Some may seem more relevant to you at different times in your life, some may not seem relevant at all. We will weave a couple in to our sessions each week with a chance to reflect on them as we move towards the festive season.

This week we look at Ahimsa - non-violence and Saucha - purity/cleanliness, and how we might weave these into our modern lifestyle.

Christmas workshop and market with Denise at Shustoke Village Hall

Join us at Shustoke village hall for our Christmas gathering on Sunday 19th December 10am - 12 Midday.

It's been another year of change and it's important to have a chance to reflect and spend time with others. This 2 hour workshop will focus on the different layers of Self (Koshas) and how when we can notice fully the physical, energetic, emotional and wisdom aspects of ourself we can start to trust and move through challenges with an open heart and mind.

Prana flow-inspired movement, breath work , intention, meditation, relaxation and a chance to see and practice with friends.

Each year we donate to Birmingham Christmas Shelter and this year after our workshop we can enjoy a small Xmas market - 12-1pm - with handmade gifts from some of our regulars. Stay for a cuppa and a cake (feel free to bring something to share) with any donations going to Birmingham Christmas Shelter.

Our final week looking at The Magic of Magic. This week the Space element (akash) will be weaved into our sessions along with mudra which are said to brings the qualities of space into our body, breath and mind.

The emptiness of space is what we are looking at - it is said to be where all of the other elements interact, creating wholeness. Ether has the qualities of clearness, light, softness and it encourages expansion, vibration and freedom within us and around us.

A new theme calls us this month as all classes resume - The Magic of Mudra!

Mudras are mainly seen as positions that we make with our hands that encourage, guide and seal energy in certain parts of the body, although in classical Hatha Yoga we also see mudra practices with the feet, eyes and whole body. Directing the Prana/Qi/energy/awareness with intention can also bring about different states in our mind and emotional body.

October is here

We are back off our hols and looking forward to sharing some wonderful sessions with you this Autumn.
